Regular Season Week 10: Seahawks 24, Rams 22

Julian Peterson had four tackles in the Seahawks' 24-22 win over St. Louis. He had another solid performance, but I have to gripe about him not showing his teammates on D how to tackle Lambs' RB Stephen Jackson. Jackson ran through several arm tackles, including (surprisingly) one of Julian's. Oh well, at least the 'Hawks won this game, and now Julian can get ready to kick the crap out of his former team, the San Francisco 49ers.

BTW, I have to give a shoutout to Bloof for writing this post on the 12 Seahawks Street main page.

Regular Season Week 9: Seahawks 16, Raiders 0

Julian Peterson had four tackles, one sack, and one pass defensed as the Seahawks blanked the Raiders, 16-0. I wasn't able to watch the game, but the defense's stats look much better than last week's. Tackles were actually pretty evenly distributed among everyone instead of Julian and either Lofa Tatupu or Ken Hamlin make most of them. Of course, the shutout, on MNF even, looks really good to.

By now, everyone has talked about the Tyler Brayton/Jerramy Stevens incident. Brayton got fined $25,000, and Jeramy got fined $15,000. Julian stuck up for Jerramy in an article by AP Sports writer Josh Dubow:

"I didn't think Jerramy deserved a fine on that," Peterson said. "He didn't intentionally try to knee anybody in the groin area ... I think that's a little bit excessive right there."

I saw the clip on YouTube, and it looked like the two guys were playing Ro Shambo, with Jerramy going first (and losing), but I will give Julian credit for sticking up for his teammate.

Regular Season Week 8: Chiefs 35, Seahawks 28

Once again, Julian Peterson was a lone bright spot in Seattle's pathetic defense as the 'Hawks lost to the Chiefs, 35-28. He had ten tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.

Now if the rest of the starters can play as well as he does, maybe the 'Hawks will survive not having Shaun Alexander or Matt Hasselbeck available on offense.

Regular Season Week 7: Vikings 31, Seahawks 13

Julian Peterson was THE MAN on defense today. He had 8 solo tackles, 4 assists, and 2 sacks. Unfortunately, the rest of the defense collapsed at inopportune times, causing the Seahawks' loss. Matt Hasselbeck was knocked out of the game with a sprained knee, putting even more pressure on the D. However, just like last week, the D did not respond.

Regular Season Week 6: Seahawks 30, Rams 28

Julian Peterson had two tackles and two sacks in the Seahawks' 30-28 win over St. Louis. I didn't watch a lot of the game, but I noticed the announcers were saying it seemed like they mentioned his name a lot. If they are, that's a good thing. It means that he is flying around and is usually where the ball is at.

Regular Season Week 4: Bears 37, Seahawks 6

Julian Peterson had five solo tackles and four assists in the Seahawks' 37-6 loss to the Bears on Sunday night. I am still upset at the Seahawks' defense (or lack thereof in that game), so I don't feel like saying anything else.

I'm Not the Only Guy Who Likes to Blog About Julian Peterson

OK, it's official. I am the second best Julian Peterson blogger on 12 Seahawks Street. The best one is Matt Ufford, aka Captain Caveman.

Here's the proof.

Regular Season Week 3: Seahawks 42, Giants 30

Julian Peterson had 1 solo tackle and 1 assist in the Seahawks' 42-30 win over the Giants. I was surprised at how little impact he had today (and was REALLY surprised about the defensive collapse in the 4th quarter). Then again, asking sixteen huge games from one person might be a little much. And I also never saw him make a big mistake.

Regular Season Week 2: Seahawks 21, Cardinals 10

Julian Peterson had 4 tackles and 1 sack in the Seahawks 21-10 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. He alternated between dropping back in coverage from his linebacker spot and lining up on the outside as a pass rusher. He got into Kurt Warner's face a few times, sacking Warner once and deflecting a pass in a style similar to a player blocking a punt.

Regular Season Week 1: Seahawks 9, Lions 6

Julian Peterson had 7 tackles (4 solo, 3 assists) and a sack in the Seahawks' 9-6 win over Detroit. I only saw the second half, so the only thing I saw that stuck out was Julian having the ball squirt out of his hands when he tried to recover a Jon Kitna fumble. The backwards roll and display of disappoinment afterwards was funny, though. Just PLEASE get the ball next time, will ya?

Julian Peterson Will Now Be Wearing #59

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer has reported that Julian Peterson has switched his jersey number from 44 to 59. I was wondering when this was going to happen. NFL rules state that linebackers must wear a number in the 50s or the 90s. Julian Peterson wore 98 in San Fran, but wanted to wear 44 in Seattle. Unfortunately for him, this isn't college (where you can wear just about any number you want).

Preseason Week 4: Seahawks 30, Raiders 7

I wasn't able to watch the Seahawks' 30-7 win over the Raiders, and I noticed Julian Peterson didn't get on the defensive stat sheet. Did he even play? Did the Raiders have all their plays go to the opposite side of him, like what Dallas essentially did? I should find these things out, but I'm too busy with work and huge Labor Day plans.

It's funny that in this preseason, the Seahawks won the games I didn't watch, and lost the games I did. I hope this doesn't continue into the regular season, because I plan on watch every Seahawk game that isn't on the NFL Network. (I can't afford cable, and my apartment won't allow satellite dishes. Besides, I don't watch a whole lot of TV anyway.) I would like the Seahawks to go 13-3, not 3-13.

Preseason Week 3: Chargers 31, Seahawks 20

Julian Peterson played a pretty good first half and a good couple of series in the third quarter (and had 3 tackles, including a nice one for a 5-yard loss on a third down play that pinned the Chargers back on their own 1-yard line) in the Seahawks loss to the Chargers in San Diego tonight. He made a few tackles and was around the ball for most of the time he was out on the field. He showed his versatility tonight by not only playing from his normal linebacking position, but also lining up as a pass rushing defensive end and covering a slot receiver on one play.

Too bad the rest of the D had to give up an early 14-0 lead. I will give them this much credit though, at least they showed up to play (unlike the Dallas game), but they still need to get their consistency down. They quickly grabbed two Phillip Rivers' fumbles (one Rocky Bernard recovered in the endzone for a touchdown), but made the Chargers' third-string running back look like LT on a long touchdown run that made the game 14-7.

Mike Holmgren said it best after the game to an AP writer: "Sometimes you can score too easy. We didn't play a very good offensive game. We were kind of careless and sloppy."

Fortunately, this is preseason. They just had better not look like this in Week 15 of the regular season when the Chargers come into Qwest Field.

Preseason Week 2: Seahawks 30, Colts 17

Julian Peterson had 3 tackles and a forced fumble in the Seahawks 30-17 win over the Colts.

Preseason Week 1: Cowboys 13, Seahawks 3

Julian Peterson had 1 assist in 1 quarter of play as the Seahawks lost their first preseason game to the Cowboys 13-3. He looked a little rusty from what I could see of his play from my TV screen (just about ALL of the Seahawks looked rusty last night). For the most part, the Cowboys weren't running to his side of the field when he was in (he helped string out one sweep nicely, allowing Marcus Trufant to get the tackle), and he was getting good penetration on his pass rush, forcing Cowboys QB Tony Romo (Drew Bledsoe didn't play) to step up and move around several times. Unfortunately, no one on the Seattle D had much of an answer for the Cowboys' offense.

Julian Peterson is Emerging as a Leader on Defense

A newspaper from my neck of the woods, Portland, OR's Oregonian wrote an article on Thursday about how Julian is fitting in with his new teammates. The article starts with him telling Lofa Tatupu to give him 10 pushups after Lofa dropped an interception. Lofa immediately does so.

The article goes on to describe how glad everyone at training camp is to have Julian as a teammate instead of an opponent. It ends with him saying a few choice words about how things were going in San Francisco in the last couple of losing years.

Web Article about Julian Peterson

There is a great article on Yahoo! Sports about Julian Peterson's versatility on defense. Along with linebacker, he would play some defensive end and a little bit of safety in San Francisco's defense before Mike Nolan stuck him into a new rigid system last year. Needless to say, John Marshall (who is described as the defensive coordinator, not interim d-co like last year, did I miss something here?) is putting him all over the field again.

Introducing Julian Peterson

Julian Peterson comes to play for the Seahawks after spending 6 years in San Francisco. With 2 Pro Bowls on his resumé, a 7 year, $54 million contract with $18.5 million guaranteed in the bank, and a hunger to win the Super Bowl, he looks improve an already great linebacking corps. Currently, a Seahawks.com quick poll has him named the new player that will stand out most in training camp.

The only question about him is his recovery from a torn Achilles' tendon in 2004. It affected his play last year, but he said he felt good at the end of the season.

It will be exciting to see what he can do for the Seahawks this year.
